South Korea's team has remained on course to take on host country China in the Sudirman Cup team badminton tournament in Beijing.
South Korea scored an easy 5-0 win over England with Lee Hyun-Il beating Nicholas Kidd (15-13, 15-4) in men's singles. Lee Yun-Hwa had a tougher time with Elizabeth Cann in women's singles, but won in three games, 11-3, 9-11, 11-7.
Ha Tae-Kwon and Yim Bang-Eun won the men's doubles over Anthony Clark and Robert Blair (15-17, 15-13, 15-5). Lee Kyung-Won and Lee Hyo-Jung won the women's doubles while Lee Jae-Jin and Ra Kyung-Min won the mixed doubles.
Meanwhile, Denmark beat Thailand, 4-1, in the day's other Group 1A match. Denmark faces South Korea Thursday and whoever finishes second in the group is expected to take on China in the semifinals. China plays Hong Kong later Wednesday.
Only the eight teams in Elite Group-1, which is split into two groups of four, have a chance to win the biennial tournament. Thirty-three other teams are competing for promotion into a higher division.
