Country's Craig Morgan Soars with <i>My Kind of Livin'</i>

update

U.S. Army paratrooper-turned-Country singer Craig Morgan has made a slow but steady climb toward a successful music career during the past five years. Unlike most of today's top Country stars, he's signed to an independent record company. But, that hasn't held Craig Morgan back from joining the superstar ranks.

"I Got You" is one of eight songs Craig Morgan co-wrote for his third and latest album, My Kind of Livin'. Craig says he was inspired to write the song while touring with Country star Keith Urban, who's known for his high-energy concerts. Morgan first considered giving the song to Urban. But, he saved it for his new album, and now says it's one of his favorite songs to play live.

My Kind of Livin' includes one other song Craig almost gave to another artist. He had Brad Paisley and John Conlee in mind when he wrote "Blame Me." Instead, he invited Brad and John to sing on his version, and they agreed.

Craig signed his first recording deal with Atlantic Records in 2000. The label folded, and two years later, Craig earned another contract with the independent label Broken Bow Records. In 2003, his second album, I Love It, produced Craig's first major hit with "Almost Home." Its Top 10 success led to high-profile tours with LeAnn Rimes, Montgomery Gentry and some other Country stars.

Craig is now performing his own headlining tour in support of My Kind of Livin'. Its current single recently set a new record for Broken Bow Records. It spent four weeks at Number One on the Country chart. That marked the first time since 1977 that an independent label has had a single hold the top spot for more than one week.
