Iran says it is determined to resume uranium enrichment whether talks with the European Union over its nuclear program succeed or fail.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told a weekly news conference in Tehran Sunday the government will continue to suspend uranium enrichment during the talks. But he says Iran will not allow negotiations to go on for what it would consider an unreasonable period of time. Iranian officials have made similar comments before.
Iranian and EU negotiators are due to resume talks in London on April 29.
Last November, Tehran agreed to suspend uranium enrichment while it negotiated a settlement to its nuclear dispute with the European Union.
Europe and the United States are concerned that Tehran is secretly trying to manufacture nuclear weapons. Tehran says its nuclear facilities will only be used to generate electricity.
