Iraqi 'Friendly Fire' Incident Leaves 5 Dead

Iraqi police and soldiers mistook each other for insurgents Thursday and engaged in a brief gunbattle that left five of their ranks dead and eight wounded.

Officials say three soldiers and two police officers were killed during the gunfight in the northern town of Rabia, near Mosul.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military says a security detainee died Tuesday at a coalition-run prison camp.

The man, in his early 30s, was reported alone in his cell when a guard realized something was wrong with him. Officials say efforts to revive the detainee failed. They say an investigation into the cause of his death is under way.
