The U.S. military says soldiers killed 24 insurgents in Iraq who attacked coalition troops on the outskirts of Baghdad Sunday.
Six coalition troops were wounded in the fighting. Another insurgent attack killed a U.S. soldier in Kirkuk.
Meanwhile, in Mosul, a suicide bomber killed a top Iraqi anti-corruption official in an attack claimed by al-Qaida-linked militants.
Hours later, unidentified gunmen fired on cars in his funeral procession, killing two mourners. And in Samarra, gunmen killed a policeman who was walking to work.
In other developments, Iraq temporarily recalled its ambassador to Jordan on Sunday. The move came hours after Jordan called its top diplomat home from Baghdad for consultations after Shi'ite demonstrators raised an Iraqi flag over the Jordanian embassy.
