The championship of American-style football - the Super Bowl - kicks off later Sunday in the northeastern Florida city of Jacksonville.
Considered two of the best teams in the National Football League this season, the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots both have the ability to score quickly and often. Top Philadelphia receiver Terrell Owens has been the emotional spark for the Eagles offense. But an ankle injury kept him out of the playoffs. While his doctors have not cleared him to play in the Super Bowl, Owens says he has overcome the injury.
"It is a good story for the Super Bowl and all the hoopla surrounding me and my teammates and will I play or not. I am here. I am going to play. And that is it," he said.
Opposing teams have had much difficulty moving the football against either the Philadelphia or New England defense. New England Linebacker Mike Vrabel says New England's players are unified by one goal.
"The focus has got to be on the game. When you are motivated by championships and being a champion, we go about it a little differently," he said.
Philadelphia is making its first Super Bowl appearance in 24 years. New England is aiming for its third championship in four years.
