The campaign of presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a huge lead over President Barack Obama's campaign when it comes to money.
According to Federal Election Commission reports filed Monday, Romney and the Republicans raised $101 million in July, compared with $75 million raised last month by Obama and the Democrats.
The Republicans had a total of $186 million in cash on hand, funds that are immediately available, while the Democrats had $124 million.
Those totals do not include money spent by outside political groups, including political action committees and politically active non-profit groups.
The Politico website reported Monday that during the first half of August, the largest pro-Romney organizations spent eight times more than the largest pro-Obama political action committee, Priorities USA Action.
The Republicans will hold their national convention in Tampa, Florida, next week, during which they are expected formally to nominate Mitt Romney as their presidential candidate.
