Severely Disfigured Firefighter Gets New Face

A U.S. volunteer firefighter who was severely burned in a house fire 14 years ago has lived ever since with a severely disfigured face. The prospect of losing his eyesight prompted him to undergo a face transplant. The surgery was the most comprehensive of its kind since the world's first such transplant in 2005.
